About this talk

Because of the remote nature of Cape York, often the only way to access the communities is via off-road, four wheel drive vehicles. However, this can result in the spread of invasive plant species which can threaten the local flora. For many years, the use of vehicle washdown stations in Cape York would help in decreasing the spread of these invasive species, but due to a number of reasons, including the cost of running these stations, they are no longer functional. We believe our proposed power supply and delivery system, which consists of solar panels and a battery array, would be a superior way of providing power to the stations, when compared to the diesel generators that they used to use. With a focus on sustainability and financial sensibility, we believe that our system would greatly benefit not only the people of Cape York, but the environment there too.
