About this talk

The technical skills of engineers make them a strong candidate to contribute towards the goal. However, the roles that engineers can play range based on their discipline and employment. Clear roles that engineers can play to achieve SDG 13 have not been defined. The roles that engineers should play are related to the contribution towards engineering education, participation in policy debates, and development of climate technologies. These roles are currently being fulfilled to a certain extent by the industry, including engineering consultants and engineering-peak bodies. This talk will briefly discuss the roles of engineers in addressing sustainable development goal 13. It will also look into Engineering consultants and assess their fulfilment in these roles in an Australian context.
